About
Hello and welcome to our little corner of the internet. We split our time between our suburban home in middle America, and our rural homestead a bit south of here. We are a family of 4… me, hubby, and 2 school aged boys. We are a homeschooling family as well.
We are doing our best to live as energy-efficiently as a family can. We don’t have a shrine to Al Gore or anything, but we are trying to do our best to live in the most self-sufficient way we possibly can. Now our efforts are in their infancy… I still drive a Suburban and have no plans to downsize. But we make bio-fuel for my husband’s Silverado… that counts for something right?
Most of our green efforts happen down at the “farm” and you can read more about that in the various posts my husband and I make on the blog. But we are also doing what we can here to prepare for, well, whatever comes our way here at our primary home. I know a lot of families right now are going through personal crisis with the recession and burst of the housing bubble. We know families that have lost their jobs, homes, and savings. So, even though we are fortunate right now that these things aren’t happening to us, we feel it’s important to prepare for the unknown.
So maybe the things we do and write about will help someone else. We are a funny family… we use humor in our day to day lives. Please take some of the jokes we make lightly. It’s almost a certainty that when we make strange and comical statements, our tongues are planted firmly in our cheeks.
I know this is a skimpy “about” story but I’ll expand on it when I think of more to say.
